#7
In the age of Enlightenment, people's fresh ideas were spreading all around the world. Before that period of time, men thought that women should stay home and do the job a wife should do. In addition, women's novels were valueless at that moment. Since the Enlightenment ocurred, women's values were being more influenced. Mary Shelley, the author of "Frankenstein", has used her right to publish her opinions. The way she writes and expressing her idea is amazing because her thoughts has taught our future generation many new stuff. In accordance with the cultural values of the Enlightenment, human thought and behavior dominated by the kind of thinking should be rational rather than emotional, enigmatic or blind superstition. It also should be secular. In other words, should not be disseminated to any supernatural motivation. It is derived from the Gothic horror fiction story of a mad scientist describe a class of fiction. The first one, is Mary Shelley published in 1818 Frankenstein. Gothic horror novels follow the routine, these novel anti-Enlightenment, from the kind of emotional urgency to mine material, moral stories compiled them, under the guise of science to reveal the origin of evil, and how to resist the kind of sin. These novels to illustrate the scientific rationalism for a person's mental health is harmful. Meanwhile, those who hold the secret knowledge of modern secular scientists, according to traditional moral standards, are incomprehensible freak. In addition, these novels also remind the reader that secular science must conform to traditional Christian values of Jewish ethical guidelines.

"Frankenstein" as the founder of science fiction, beyond the ordinary with the profound significance of science fiction. Height of the crisis in modern British Enlightenment to the French Revolution as an advocate of rational context, indeed gave rise to practical benefits, but the reason they can not solve all problems. But this can not replace religion or faith can give people the ultimate goal of bringing mind and comfort. The anti-all itself, or spiritual experience from the inside to find the meaning of life. This respect with the then generally accepted in the Christian West, affect. Therefore, in the belief in the vacuum of modern society , this "Frankenstein" gave us a generalization of the religion into a religious perspective, that the return on the faith and heart of people today can still bring a little enlightenment.

Learn from failure

People always gain experiences from failure. In 17th century, scientists improve their invention through their fresh ideas which is discovered from the bad aspects of old invention. Scientisis keep updating their stuff because they know things will being eliminated if they stay in the old style. In the "Frankenstein", if Dr. Frankenstein does not give up his creature, he must fix the bad aspect of the creature he made. If he can make it better, everythings will turn out easily and simply. People should correct the failure to make things getting close to perfect. Only the improvement can keep things longer and being perfect.

Declaration of Slavery

During the age of slavery, black people have no value in the society. They are working so hard everyday and even dont have a better rest. Some masters treat them badly like smacking them when they dont do their job well. Through the appearance of Enlightenment, the slavery had been abolished. In the story of Frankenstein, Dr. Frankenstein should treat the creature equally as human. The Creature is symbolizing the slave because Dr. Frankenstein abandon him and want to destroy him. The creature just want to live in a family like everybody has, he can do what human can do, such as going to school, playing with friends, and having happiness...etc

The Symbol of Evil

“What could not be expected in the country of eternal light?” asks Walton, displaying a faith in, and optimism about, science. In Frankenstein, light symbolizes knowledge, discovery, and enlightenment. The natural world is a place of dark secrets, hidden passages, and unknown mechanisms; the goal of the scientist is then to reach light. The dangerous and more powerful cousin of light is fire. The monster’s first experience with a still-smoldering flame reveals the dual nature of fire: he discovers excitedly that it creates light in the darkness of the night, but also that it harms him when he touches it. I think fire also symbols the evil mind in monster's deeply spirit because his experiences. He learns what feeling is, he understands Dr. Frankenstein abandon him and feels hateful.

Expressed on the story " Frankenstein" of science and technology concerns the introduction of a human society. Technology to human society and human itself felt overwhelmed. Monster, in a sense are being developed and represent infiltrated human society, science and technology. We can see the full expression of anxiety at work, gloomy mood throughout the book, and cast them into the text. Works such as the four storms, it indicates that changes to come. After reading the whole work, we will find that the writer has a very tense, restless mood.
Renaissance is the slogan of the liberation of human desire God created man according to the myth of the faith. According to the myth of the Enlightenment version of this explanation, since man is created by God, was their belief in Marxism who attributed evil desires actually created by God. Therefore, if a person to go to satisfy their desires, and should have not contrary to God's teachings, and even that is in line with the purpose of when God created man.

The freature of the book " Frankenstein" is a creative to the traditional Gothic literary sentimentalism. Gothic novels popular in the 18th century, more than the contents of a terrorist, violence, supernatural and yearning for life in the Middle Ages, because of circumstances over the dark and desolate place in the Gothic castle (18th century England, a popular form of the structure similar to the church) in its name; story full of suspense, in order to destroy the outcome; there are many similar well-known works. Sentimentalism refers to the industrial revolution, before the French Revolution as a literary genre, the main features of a writer to feelings instead of reason and humanity as a critical tool, mainly praise kindness, compassion, selfless, and in line with nature, but the shape of the figure Some pedantic and naive.
The Enlightenment is often accommodate a certain way of thinking of conviction or the content, the Enlightenment thinkers tend to retain faith in God, we of the "Historical Materialism" tutorial is a "bourgeois (or the public class) of the compromise and weakness "to explain. That is, according to this view, we do can only say that the majority of Enlightenment thinkers still maintain a degree of ignorance; heart retained a certain degree of darkness. This interpretation is not only hard to convince, and will understand the concepts of the Enlightenment in the wrong direction.

The idea of John Locke

#3
Novel takes as its subject human psychology and cognition; it is undoubtedly the first European work on human cognition. John Locke was a philosopher of human science in 17th century. Locke appied the new science to explaining the human mind itsel and all its operation; he started with a radical deinition o human mind. He wrote two far-reaching and massively inluential works on human sciences, An Essay Concerning Human Understanding(1690) and Two Treatises on Govement (1690). He thought the human mind enters the world with no pre-fromed ideas whatsoever. the human mind at the birth is a blank, a erased board. Human sensation: taste, touch, smell, hearing, and especially vision filled the empty mind with object of sensation. From these sensation, human eventually derive a sense of order and rationality. i argree with this idea because Dr. Frankenstein create a monster who is more human and kind just like what Locke is talking about. The creature has no family after he born because Dr. Frankenstein abandon him. No one is going to teach him what sensation are. He needs to learn by himself and experiences these things that he never has.

Science of Frankenstein

#2

When I read about “Frankenstein” I only had one word came up in my mine. It was immoral. Why did I think it is immoral? I thought that human nature was always from life to death, never reversed from death being alive. That couldn’t be happened in real life and it would destroy the rule of human. Otherwise, he created a new life which meant it was possible to create a new life or a replication of human. In science, it had the method to make a DNA replication. During the period of Enlightenment, Friendrich Miescher was the first person who discovered the way of DNA replication in 1869. Also he got a new ideas to copy a human with DNA after he experienced The Enlightenment. The process was “replication” in that each strand of the original double-stranded DNA molecules serves as template for the reproduction of the complementary strand. This suggest anything that you think it is impossible is can be happened in science.
